Crosier Kilgour & Partners Ltd., the designated structural engineering firm working on the project chose DELTABEAM® to solve the height restriction problem they were faced with as well as to meet a very tight construction schedule.
For this impressive project, 10’(250 mm) DELTABEAM®s were used. This particular DELTABEAM® project is different compared to most that have been done in North America to date, as cantilevering DELTABEAM® is used continuously all around the building and made possible thanks to DELTABEAM®’s versatility. A massive transfer beam was used in the middle of the building to support a column from the top in tension allowing for a clear span of 39.4 ft (about 12 m) for a large conference room.
The hub will house laboratories, prototyping suites, multimedia classrooms, conference rooms and business incubator space, and is expected to be completed end of October 2018.
